Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Caretaker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to animals in a variety of settings, including veterinary clinics, kennels, and laboratories. This role requires a strong understanding of animal physiology and husbandry practices, as well as the ability to handle animals safely and effectively. The Animal Caretaker will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of the animals under their care. Responsibilities Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising. Maintain cleanliness and organization of animal enclosures and living areas. Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff. Assist in administering medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians. Implement aseptic techniques during procedures to ensure a sterile environment. Support veterinary staff during examinations and treatments, including handling animals safely. Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, including feeding schedules and health observations. Engage with clients at the front desk, providing information about services and answering questions as needed. Requirements Experience in animal handling, preferably in a laboratory, kennel, or veterinary clinic setting. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and veterinary critical care is highly desirable. Familiarity with aseptic techniques and basic understanding of animal physiology. Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or in a similar role is an advantage. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina to perform tasks that may involve lifting or restraining animals.
