Mitchell Animal Hospital is looking for a friendly, energetic Veterinary Room Assistant to join our amazing team! We're a fast-paced, privately owned veterinary hospital where no two days are ever the same. Our team works hard, laughs often, supports one another, and truly enjoys what we do. This position is primarily a Room Assistant role, working alongside our veterinarians to provide exceptional patient care while building lasting relationships with our clients and their pets. All of our Room Assistants are cross-trained as Client Services Representatives (CSRs) and may occasionally support the front desk, providing variety in the workday and opportunities to continue learning and growing within the practice. Whether you're an experienced veterinary assistant or someone with a positive attitude, strong customer service skills, and a passion for helping animals and the people who love them, we encourage you to apply. Veterinary experience is preferred, but we're happy to train the right candidate who is eager to learn, adaptable, dependable, and excited to be part of a collaborative team. Prepare exam rooms for appointments. Assist veterinarians during examinations and outpatient procedures. Safely restrain canine and feline patients using Fear Free and low-stress handling techniques. Collect blood, urine, fecal, and other diagnostic samples. Perform venipuncture. Obtain quality digital radiographs while maintaining patient safety. Perform in-house laboratory testing, including CBCs, chemistry panels, urinalysis, heartworm testing, FeLV/FIV testing, fecal examinations, and cytology. Accurately document patient medical records. Accurately capture charges for services, diagnostics, medications, and treatments performed. Provide client education on medications, diagnostics, preventive care, and treatment plans as directed by the veterinarian. Review discharge instructions and check clients out following their appointments. Maintain clean, organized exam rooms and treatment areas. Assist throughout the hospital wherever needed to support patient care and workflow. Occasional Client Services Responsibilities Welcome clients and patients with professionalism and compassion. Answer phones, emails, and client messages. Schedule appointments accurately. Check patients in and out. Process invoices and payments. Maintain accurate client and patient records. Help keep the reception area organized and welcoming. We're Looking for Someone Who... Has a positive, can-do attitude and enjoys being part of a collaborative team. Qualifications Veterinary assistant experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate with a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn. Customer service or veterinary reception experience is a plus. Experience with Fear Free handling, patient restraint, venipuncture, digital radiography, and in-house laboratory testing is a plus. Strong communication and organizational skills. Comfortable handling dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments. Professional, dependable, team-oriented, and adaptable.
