Job Overview Join our vibrant veterinary team as a Veterinary Receptionist/Office Assistant and become the friendly face and organizational backbone of our animal care facility! In this dynamic role, you will be the first point of contact for clients and their beloved pets, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience. Your multitasking skills will shine as you manage appointments, handle medical records, assist with administrative tasks, and support veterinary staff with critical office functions. Duties Greet clients warmly and efficiently check in pets for appointments, surgeries, or boarding. Manage appointment scheduling using veterinary software, ensuring optimal flow throughout the day. Handle medical collections and process payments accurately while maintaining confidentiality. Assist with animal restraint during examinations or procedures to ensure safety for pets and staff. Support veterinary team members with laboratory tasks, specimen handling, and basic animal husbandry. Maintain organized medical records, update client information, and ensure compliance with DEA and USDA regulations. Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up appointments. Assist with front desk duties such as answering phones, responding to emails, and managing client inquiries. Support kennel operations by helping with animal care, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring during boarding or recovery periods. Help coordinate surgical procedures by preparing supplies, assisting during procedures when needed, and post-operative care documentation. Ensure a clean and sterile environment by practicing aseptic techniques during clinical procedures. Support veterinary critical care efforts by assisting in emergency situations or intensive pet monitoring when required. Experience Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital is highly preferred; familiarity with veterinary terminology is essential. Demonstrated ability in customer service roles within pet care or veterinary settings. Knowledge of veterinary software systems for scheduling, record keeping, and billing processes. Hands-on experience with animal restraint techniques and dog handling skills. Understanding of medical-surgical procedures related to companion animals and laboratory testing procedures. Experience working with laboratory equipment or conducting basic diagnostic tests is advantageous. Familiarity with drug enforcement regulations (DEA) and USDA guidelines related to veterinary practice is a plus. Kennel experience or animal husbandry background enhances your ability to support daily operations effectively. Knowledge of equine experience or large animal handling is beneficial but not mandatory; all candidates should possess strong animal handling skills across species.
