Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician and become a vital part of providing exceptional animal care! This energetic role offers the opportunity to work closely with animals and veterinary professionals, supporting medical procedures, patient care, and client communication. You will be instrumental in ensuring smooth clinic operations, assisting with diagnostics, anesthesia, laboratory work, and emergency care. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments and examinations. Conduct laboratory tests including blood draws (phlebotomy), sample processing, and diagnostic radiology to support accurate diagnoses. Manage anesthesia monitoring, IV insertion, vascular access, and animal catheterization to ensure safe and effective sedation or anesthesia procedures. Support emergency medicine efforts by providing critical care, administering medications, and monitoring vital signs during critical & intensive care situations. Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and other veterinary technology to assist in accurate diagnostics. Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, ensuring all patient information, treatments, and procedures are accurately documented. Qualifications Proven kennel experience with animals of various sizes and temperaments. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques. Hands-on experience with dental terminology, pet grooming, dog training, and animal husbandry is highly desirable. Demonstrated veterinary technician experience with skills in anesthesia monitoring, laboratory work, radiology diagnostics, and emergency medicine. Ability to handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques; experience with dog handling and equine experience is a plus. Proficiency in medical equipment operation including X-ray machines and laboratory instruments; familiarity with veterinary software is preferred. Strong communication skills for client interaction regarding pet care instructions and treatment plans.
