Job Summary Join our dynamic team as an Animal Encounters Attendant, where your passion for animals and exceptional customer service will create memorable experiences for visitors. In this lively role, you will engage guests with educational and interactive animal encounters, ensuring both animal welfare and visitor safety are prioritized. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to work closely with a variety of animals, develop your veterinary and animal handling skills, and contribute to an engaging, family-friendly environment. Responsibilities Conduct engaging animal encounters by safely handling and presenting animals to visitors, ensuring positive interactions that promote education and conservation awareness Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, grooming, and monitoring animal health and behavior Support veterinary staff with basic medical procedures such as medication administration, IV insertion, restraint, and record keeping Maintain a clean and safe environment by following proper cleaning protocols, aseptic techniques, and PPE use to prevent contamination or injury Educate visitors about animal physiology, behavior, welfare needs, and conservation efforts through clear communication and demonstrations Support front desk operations including guest check-in, answering questions, managing reservations for encounters or tours, and providing excellent customer service Observe animals closely during encounters for signs of distress or health issues and report findings promptly to veterinary or supervisory staff Experience Previous kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience working with a variety of species including domestic animals and equines is a plus Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience highly desirable; familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, surgery assistance, and critical care techniques is advantageous Hands-on experience with dog handling, animal restraint techniques, catheterization, medication administration, and aseptic procedures required Strong record keeping skills related to animal care logs, medical records, and incident reports necessary for compliance and safety standards Excellent client communication skills to educate visitors effectively about animals' needs and behaviors Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, behavior patterns, and welfare best practices essential for ensuring safe interactions Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in cleaning routines and safety protocols This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to expand their expertise in veterinary care while sharing their love of animals with the public.
