- Part-time, Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and possess the necessary skills to support our veterinary staff in providing high-quality medical care to our patients. This role involves working closely with animals, assisting with various procedures, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for both pets and their owners. Duties Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations and procedures. Provide animal restraint during examinations and treatments to ensure safety for both staff and animals. Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including oral medications, injections, and topical treatments. Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including kennels, treatment areas, and examination rooms. Monitor the health and behavior of animals in the clinic or hospital setting. Handle various species of animals with care, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times. Assist with laboratory tasks such as collecting samples for testing and performing basic laboratory procedures. Provide front desk support as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing client communications. Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices, including nutrition, grooming, and preventive health measures. Experience Candidates should possess a combination of the following skills: Kennel experience or prior work in an animal care setting is desired. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices to ensure optimal health and well-being of animals. Experience as a veterinary assistant or veterinary receptionist in veterinary care is highly desirable. Familiarity with veterinary terminology to effectively communicate within the clinic environment. Proficiency in animal handling techniques, including dog handling and restraint methods. Experience in aseptic techniques to maintain cleanliness during medical procedures. Laboratory experience is beneficial for assisting with diagnostic testing processes.
