Job Description

Overview Middle Tennessee Veterinary Center is a patient-first, independently owned, small animal veterinary practice in Goodlettsville looking for a friendly, dependable Veterinary Assistant/Technician to join our team part-time. In this role, you'll support the veterinarian in delivering comprehensive medical services, ensuring our patients receive compassionate, high-quality treatment. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and sample collection. Prepare animals for surgery by ensuring proper anesthesia administration and aseptic techniques. Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document treatment plans clearly and accurately. Assist the front desk staff as needed. Handle animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning kennels, and managing kennel experience to ensure a clean and safe environment. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning and oral examinations. Operate imaging equipment like X-ray machines with precision while adhering to safety protocols. Qualifications Prior experience working as a veterinary assistant/technician or in animal care settings is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology. Experience with animal restraint techniques. Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and aseptic techniques is desirable. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about pet care needs.
Pay:
$17.00 - $21.00 per hour
