Veterinary Technician/Assistant Castle Hills Animal Hospital - 3.0 Lewisville, TX Job Details Full-time $15 - $16 an hour 5 hours ago Benefits 401(k) Employee discount Flexible schedule Qualifications Vascular access Companion animal handling Customer communication Animal hospital experience Customer service Animal catheterization In-person customer service High school diploma or GED IV insertion Organizational skills Communication with pet owners Time management Full Job Description Overview We are seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our Veterinary Hospital to assist primarily with patient care, assist DVM's, and any additional tasks assigned that are outlined in the veterinary assistant job description. The Veterinary Assistant will assist with pet safety, client education, management of pet treatments, and basic hospital cleaning. We are willing to train the best candidate who fits our team atmosphere. Our ideal candidate is passionate about pets and their care with a positive attitude, always willing to learn new treatment options, and/or different treatment methods. Our atmosphere is fun and relaxed while professional and courteous to all our clients. We love saying "Yes" to pets, so we would like to have someone willing to hit the ground running when a pet walks in the door. Duties & Responsibilities Recording relevant information about animals, including weight and types of medication given Restraining and soothing animals during examinations, treatments, and vaccinations Advising owners of pets about caring for their animals at home Assisting Veterinarian and other team members with restraint during exam Filling prescriptions Monitoring anesthetized patients Sterilizing the equipment Assisting with prescription administration, blood drawing, and dental cleaning for patients Completing laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging Communicating with our veterinarians, clients, and other team members Following hospital guidelines, rules, regulations, and policies Keeping track of medical records Providing compassionate care to hospitalized patients, as well as keeping the patients' cages clean Cleaning and organizing treatment spaces, examination rooms, hospital areas, pharmacy, cages, and lab Skills & Qualifications Expert animal handling skills Customer Service skills(checking in/out clients) Excellent communication skills Basic math calculation skills. Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks depending on needs Good organizational skills Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment Computer skills to maintain medical records about animals in veterinary software Bilingual (Recommended but not required) Requirements Ability to lift 50lbs, twist, pull, push, and stand for long periods if necessary High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Excellent communication skills Possess a good attitude and contribute to a positive work environment Animal care, restraints, and client/customer interaction experience required Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, lab work, radiology, and pharmacology is highly preferred but not required At least, 1-2 years experience in the veterinary field Be available to work Saturdays 8 am to 2pm
Pay:
$15.00 - $16.00 per hour
