The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal welfare, excellent animal handling skills, and a comprehensive understanding of veterinary procedures. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians by providing high-quality animal care, assisting with medical procedures, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. This position offers an engaging environment where your skills in animal husbandry, client communication, and clinical support will contribute significantly to the health and well-being of our patients. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining sterile environments. Handle animals safely and effectively, including dog handling, animal restraint, and species-specific behavior management. Perform animal husbandry duties such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status to promote optimal welfare. Support clinical tasks including medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and record keeping of patient information. Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by sanitizing kennels, treatment areas, surgical suites, and equipment in accordance with PPE use and safety protocols. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, medication schedules, and follow-up appointments to ensure client satisfaction. Assist with surgery preparation and post-operative care while adhering to veterinary terminology standards and safety guidelines. Support inventory management by restocking supplies, managing medication stocks, and ensuring proper storage of pharmaceuticals. Experience Prior kennel experience or veterinary clinic experience is highly desirable. Experience working with animals in critical care or emergency settings enhances your suitability for this role. Familiarity with equine handling or large animal care is a plus for clinics that serve diverse species. Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, behavior, and welfare principles is essential for effective support roles. Proven ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques while maintaining calmness under pressure. Strong understanding of veterinary terminology and record keeping practices to ensure accurate documentation. Experience in medication administration, surgical assistance, and client communication will strengthen your application.
