Duties Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, and treatment areas to promote a healthy environment for animals Assist with animal husbandry tasks including feeding, watering, grooming, and monitoring behavior and health status Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with medication administration, sample collection, and basic procedures such as catheterization or injections Assist with animal intake and discharge processes at the front desk, including documentation and record keeping Observe animals closely for signs of distress or illness, reporting any concerns promptly to veterinary staff Support laboratory procedures by collecting samples or preparing equipment as needed for diagnostic testing Qualifications Prior kennel experience or animal care background preferred; experience in veterinary clinics highly valued Knowledge of animal husbandry practices, including pet care, grooming, and handling various species such as dogs and horses Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and aseptic techniques Experience with animal restraint techniques and medication administration required; veterinary technician or assistant experience is a plus Ability to handle animals confidently using proper dog handling skills and understanding of animal behavior Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary team members and front desk staff This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to expand their veterinary knowledge while providing compassionate care.
