We are a small, close-knit, family-oriented mixed animal practice with an immediate opening for the right person. About Amazia Veterinary Service We are a small clinic where our staff works closely together and everyone plays an important role in keeping the day running smoothly. We value teamwork, communication, a good sense of humor, and being willing to jump in and help where needed. Because we are a smaller, family-oriented practice, we also understand that life happens and strive to offer flexibility and a supportive working environment. Our practice is primarily small animal , caring for dogs and cats, but being a mixed animal clinic gives our staff opportunities to experience more than a traditional companion-animal practice. Our team may also assist with large-animal laboratory work and procedures involving goats, sheep, pigs, and other livestock. We have recently welcomed two new veterinarians to our practice who are excited to bring new ideas, interests, and skills to the clinic. As our practice continues to grow, we are excited to expand what we can offer both our patients and our staff. About the Position We are seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on veterinary experience. Experience is an absolute requirement for this position. This position is best suited for someone who is comfortable working independently when appropriate, understands the flow of a busy veterinary hospital, and can confidently assist our doctors and fellow team members throughout the day.
Typical responsibilities may include:
Restraining and handling dogs and cats safely and confidently Assisting veterinarians during examinations and procedures Obtaining patient histories and communicating with clients Drawing blood and collecting laboratory samples Placing IV catheters Running in-house laboratory testing and preparing samples Assisting with radiographs Preparing patients for surgery and procedures Monitoring and assisting with anesthesia and patient recovery based on experience and training Maintaining accurate medical records Filling medications and assisting with prescription requests as appropriate Cleaning, stocking, and maintaining treatment and surgical areas Providing compassionate patient care and client education Working closely with doctors, assistants, reception staff, and fellow technicians to keep appointments and procedures moving efficiently Assisting with large-animal laboratory work when needed Opportunities to assist with goat, sheep, and pig anesthesia and procedures Taking on additional responsibilities and learning opportunities as our clinic continues to grow What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is dependable, experienced, confident, compassionate, and team-oriented . You should be comfortable jumping into a busy day, communicating with clients and coworkers, handling animals with different temperaments, and recognizing when something needs to be done without always needing to be asked. Applicants must have at least 3 years of veterinary clinical experience. This is not an entry-level veterinary assistant position. Schedule This is a full-time position , typically scheduled as: Approximately four 10-hour shifts per week Every other Saturday Flexibility within the schedule when possible Our longer shifts allow our full-time team members to generally work fewer days during the week while still maintaining full-time hours.
