Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and detail-oriented Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced and dynamic team at Shoreline Central Animal Hospital . We are a busy 6 doctor practice that offers urgent care and surgery 6 days a week. At Shoreline Central we offer everything from wellness care to emergency care . We have in house diagnostics such as AUS/ECHOs, endoscopy , in house lab, cytology, and blood gas machines, and perform orthopedics and emergency surgery . We are looking for someone who loves wellness care and the hustle and bustle of urgent care. Our team is big on communication and collaboration a. Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in examining and treating animals. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and safety protocols are followed. Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, etc.) for testing. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian. Prepare animals for surgery, including setting up surgical instruments and ensuring the patient is ready. Monitor patients during procedures and recovery, providing critical care support as needed. Maintain patient records, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history and treatment. Communicate effectively with clients regarding their pet's health and treatment plans. Maintain and stock medical supplies and equipment. Assist with client check-in and check-out procedures as needed. Perform basic office duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and taking payments as necessary. Help maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital environment. Answer phones, emails, text message in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a veterinary assistant or technician preferred. Strong interest in animal care and well-being. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. Knowledge of basic animal health care and medical terminology. Ability to lift at least 40lbs safely, unassisted Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Compassion and empathy for both animals and their owners.
