Veterinary Technician — Job Overview Step into a fast-paced, pet-focused environment where your technical skill and compassion truly matter. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting veterinarians, delivering high-quality medical and surgical care, and ensuring every patient receives thoughtful, fear-free handling. This paid position offers hands-on experience, professional growth, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of pets and their owners. Duties Clinical support — Assist veterinarians during exams, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining strict aseptic technique. Animal restraint — Perform confident, safe restraint to protect both patients and staff during treatments. Laboratory work — Collect and process blood, urine, and tissue samples following proper medical protocols. Medication administration — Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed while monitoring patient responses. General pet care — Support daily routines including feeding, grooming, kennel cleaning, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Catheter placement — Perform catheterization with precision and adherence to critical-care standards. Recordkeeping — Maintain accurate medical records, lab results, and drug logs in compliance with DEA and USDA regulations. Animal husbandry — Assist with care for companion animals and equines, ensuring comfort, safety, and overall well-being. Surgical assistance — Prepare sterile fields, monitor anesthesia, and support post-operative recovery. Training & grooming support — Participate in dog handling, basic training, or grooming tasks when needed to enhance patient care. Experience & Qualifications Veterinary and animal care experience required. Knowledge of terminology and anatomy essential for success. Hands-on medical/surgical experience and familiarity with aseptic technique highly valued. Pet grooming and handling experience is a plus. Equine or critical-care experience considered a strong asset. Protocol compliance with
DEA/USDA
regulations and safe restraint practices required. Strong communication skills for teamwork and client interaction.
