None Position Purpose The purpose of the veterinary technician is to assist the veterinarian team and other support staff to maintain the highest quality of care given to all patients at Cannon Valley Veterinary Clinic. This is done by improving the veterinarian's efficiency: specifically relieving them of technical work and administrative duties associated with each patient visit. Job Responsibilities

  • are considered essential Under the supervision of a Technician 4: Collect blood, stool, and urine samples for testing
  • Perform standard laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, ear cytology, fecal analysis, and blood counts
  • Take and process x-rays
  • Send out Idexx samples Prepare items and patients for surgery
  • Assist with recovery of patients
  • Perform all necessary post-surgery cleaning
  • Assist in surgery as Doctor or technician feels fit
  • Ask probing questions about the reason for the visit
  • Record case history, weight, temperature and other details
  • Restrain and stabilize animals during examination and treatment
  • Trim nails, remove sutures and perform other routine procedures
  • Draw up and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian
  • Provide basic education on animal care to clients
  • Teach clients how to administer medicines at home
  • Be proactive during exam; anticipating procedures or tests that will be done
  • Be able to triage patients for basic situations depending on skill and comfort level
  • Clean exam rooms prior, during, and after exams as needed
  • Perform "Tech Only" appointments with little to no supervision
  • Maintain animal records and client contact information
  • Be able to enter invoices into AVImark for orders
  • Clean, organize, and restock supplies as needed
  • Answer phones
  • Schedule routine exams
  • Greet customers
  • Prepare invoices
  • Discharge patients
  • Follow up with clients
  • Follows all Cannon Valley Veterinary Clinic policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the employee handbook

  • Must be an animal lover Must be able to lift 50lbs up to 10% of a typical work day
  • Must be able to work on your feet all day
  • Must be willing to work days, evenings, and weekends

  • Education and Experience Completed associate degree in Veterinary Technology from a program approved by the American Veterinary Medical Association Must be an

$20.00
