Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Surgical Veterinary Technician (Licensed Veterinary Technician - LVT) and become a vital part of our surgical and critical care services. In this energetic role, you will provide expert assistance during surgical procedures, monitor anesthesia, and ensure the highest standards of animal care and safety. Your expertise will help deliver exceptional surgical outcomes while supporting pet owners and collaborating with our veterinary team to promote animal health and well-being. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by preparing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and ensuring smooth operation of all surgical activities Monitor anesthesia using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment, adjusting dosages as needed to maintain patient stability Perform vascular access procedures including IV insertion and animal catheterization to facilitate medication delivery and fluid therapy Conduct preoperative assessments, including animal physiology evaluation and patient restraint to ensure optimal surgical conditions Manage laboratory work such as blood draws, phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology, and veterinary laboratory diagnostics to support comprehensive patient care Maintain detailed records of medication administration, anesthesia parameters, and surgical procedures in veterinary software systems Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care, assisting with pet grooming, pet care, and animal husbandry tasks as required Skills Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint, animal catheterization, IV insertion, and general anesthesia management Familiarity with medical equipment operation including radiology diagnostics (X-ray), laboratory instruments, and anesthesia machines Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures and provide pet care guidance effectively Ability to work efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail Experience with veterinary software systems for record keeping and diagnostic data management (Pulse software) This role is ideal for passionate veterinary technicians eager to advance their expertise in surgical support and critical care.
