ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The Animal Control Officer is responsible for enforcing city animal control codes, investigating complaints, and making routine patrols and inspections to determine compliance with city ordinances. The Animal Control Officer responds to calls and complaints concerning stray, loose, abandoned, injured, sick, dangerous, vicious, or deceased animals, safely captures, restrains, handles, and transports domestic animals, and prepares reports and records of complaints, investigations, citations, animal impoundments, bites, and other enforcement activities. The Animal Control Officer appears in court and provides testimony regarding citations, investigations, and other animal control matters as required and all performs all other duties assigned.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High school diploma or GED and 7-11 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must obtain Level I certification within the first year of employment.
