Job Description

Job Overview Join our dedicated team as an Adoption Staff member, where your passion for animals and commitment to animal welfare will make a meaningful difference. Adoption staff members at CCHS greet the public and assist our patrons in finding their next animal companion. This is a full-time position. Hours will include weekend days, some evenings, and some holidays. Starting pay is $16.00 an hour.
Responsibilities include:
Answering phones and assisting callers Facilitating safe and positive interactions between animals and potential adopters Processing adoption applications Explaining details of pet health and behavior records to adopters Explaining details of adoption policies and contracts with adopters Preparing the animal shelter for daily open-hours Animal Care duties, such as kennel/cage cleaning, dog walking
Qualifications:
Experience handling animals is required Knowledge and/or experience related to pet ownership Friendly and outgoing Effective communicator in person, via email, and over the phone Adept at using a computer and performing accurate data entry
Psychological Considerations :
Self-motivated and hard working Comfortable engaging with people Remain calm under pressure Flexible and able to shift between different tasks
Environmental Considerations:
Must be able to work in a hectic and sometimes noisy environment Work under pressure with interruptions
Cognitive Considerations:
Must be able to represent the humane society in a positive manner Must possess good safety awareness and judgement
Physiological Considerations:
Aspects of this job may be physically demanding and involve exposure to loud noise Exposure to strong chemicals/cleaning products This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment dedicated to improving animal lives through compassionate care and responsible adoption practices.
