This role helps ensure that animals receive timely care and are placed in environments that best support their health, behavior, and chances of adoption. Coordinator will cultivate positive working relationships with other shelters. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with shelter staff, volunteers, animal welfare organizations, and members of the public. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate animal transfers to and from the shelter, foster homes, rescue groups, veterinary clinics, and partner organizations. Evaluate transfer opportunities based on each animal's medical, behavioral, and placement needs. Daily cleaning and disinfecting of the shelter. Maintain accurate records of animal histories, vaccinations, medical treatments, behavior assessments, transfer dates, and destination information. Communicate with receiving organizations regarding animal needs, temperament, medical status, transportation requirements, and follow-up care. Schedule transportation and confirm that appropriate crates, equipment, documentation, and medications are available. Prepare animals for transfer, including verifying identification, health records, vaccinations, microchip information, and required paperwork. Coordinate with veterinary staff to ensure animals are medically cleared for transfer. Work with animal care staff to assess behavior, handling needs, and compatibility with placement settings. Recruit, schedule, and communicate with volunteer drivers and transport partners. Monitor animals after transfer and maintain communication with receiving organizations when follow-up is needed. Assist with emergency transfers and urgent placement requests. Build and maintain positive relationships with local and regional rescue organizations, shelters, foster networks, and animal welfare partners. Track transfer outcomes and prepare reports on placement numbers, transport activity, and partner participation. Ensure all transfers comply with shelter policies, applicable laws, and animal welfare standards. Assist with general shelter operations, including animal handling, cleaning, enrichment, adoption events, and emergency response when needed. Represent the shelter professionally and promote responsible pet ownership and humane animal care. Must be 18, have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and have a valid drivers license.

Pay:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour
