YOUTH CORRECTIONS OFFICER ADJC
The Youth Corrections Officer position participates in a 4-Step pay plan that conforms to the following: Step 1: $23.4000 hourly, $48,672.00 annually Thereafter you will advance through the remaining pay steps on an annual basis: Step 2: $24.6001 hourly, $51,168.12 annually Step 3: $25.2001 hourly, $52,416.28 annually Step 4: $25.6802 hourly, $53,414.82 annually + Mentoring, supervising, and directing incarcerated youth + Role modeling positive behaviors + Teaching life skills + Assisting teachers with classroom management + Transporting youth to daily activities + Providing crisis intervention + Providing youth a safe and secure environment + Monitoring assigned unit for safety hazards or security violations + Performing searches for weapons and contraband + Conducting visitation inspections + Updating various logs and records, and sharing reports

Human behavior to include growth, development, needs and problems of youth
Proper methods and circumstances requiring use of force
Language as it pertains to youth care, custody treatment and rehabilitation
Standard housekeeping practices Skill in:
Verbal and written communication Ability to:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Work both indoors and outdoors in varying Arizona weather conditions
Learn and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, programs and activities established for the agency
Learn and apply methods, techniques and correct practices of security procedures as they pertain to the state's youth secure care facilities
Maintain an understanding attitude toward juveniles in custody
Participate in rehabilitation and/or treatment activities
Provide assistance, guidance and direction to juveniles
Provide positive prosocial role modeling
Apply appropriate restraint techniques
Respond to emergency situations and provide crisis intervention and first aid/basic life support
Maintain a structures and secures environment
Military Veterans/Law Enforcement background.
Experience in working with youth or juveniles preferred.
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED
