• Why does the job exist? This is a highly responsible Lead Worker position at the Eagle Nest Juvenile Reintegration Center that will be responsible for conducting and providing guidance and mentoring the Youth Care Specialist I (YCS 1) in the center to provide care and custody of youth. How does it get done?

This position will:

Supervise youth in all activities, Write reports and prepare required records regarding incidents, youth movement and noteworthy information; Ensure the proper documentation of all violations of facility operating procedures, rules and regulations, and state and federal statutes; Active member of a multidisciplinary team which is responsible for ensuring clients receive treatment and care; Responsible for guiding and mentoring YCSI staff and providing input to the unit supervisor regarding staff Who are the customers? Administration, Staff, Clients, and the Community Ideal Candidate Administration, Staff, Clients, and the Community Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree in psychology, guidance and counseling, penology, sociology, social work, and/or criminology and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, working in planned recreational activities, or active participation in community action programs, or for Correctional Officer Specialist positions, relevant work experience as it relates to the purpose of the position. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Completion of the hiring process is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screening process. This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical. Pre-employment criminal background check is required and conditional pending results. Working Conditions Potential risk from juvenile actions; this job could require running, lifting and possible physical intervention. Incumbents must be willing to accept changes in geographic assignment and be willing to work shifts, overtime, holidays, weekends and call back for emergencies. Incumbents must have a telephone and be willing to give the phone number to the supervisor. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
