Job Description

Job Overview As a Correctional Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and security within correctional facilities. You will be responsible for supervising inmates, enforcing rules and regulations, and ensuring a safe environment for both staff and inmates. This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage conflicts effectively, and a commitment to upholding the law. Responsibilities Supervise and monitor inmate activities to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations. Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including monitoring CCTV systems to detect any suspicious behavior. Write detailed reports on incidents, inmate behavior, and any other relevant information as required. Respond to emergencies and disturbances, utilizing conflict management techniques to de-escalate situations. Enforce security protocols and procedures to maintain order within the facility. Provide first aid and CPR when necessary, ensuring the health and safety of all individuals in the facility. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies as needed during investigations or emergencies. Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance skills in areas such as militarized response tactics, report writing, and emergency preparedness. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in law enforcement or related fields is preferred. Proven experience in conflict management or a related field is highly desirable. Ability to write clear and concise reports documenting incidents and observations. Familiarity with CCTV systems for monitoring inmate activities is an asset. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; training may be provided if not currently certified. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. Must pass background checks and meet physical fitness standards as required by the facility. This position demands a high level of integrity, professionalism, and dedication to maintaining a secure environment for all individuals within the correctional system.
