Job Description

Step into an impactful role supporting students with visual impairments as an Assistive Technology Specialist and Braillist. Collaborate closely with educators, support staff, and families to empower students to access curriculum, technology, and resources that foster independence and academic success. In this contract opportunity, your expertise in both assistive technology and braille will make a daily difference in an inclusive school environment.
Qualifications & Desired Background:
Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and training others in assistive technology for visual impairments Ability to transcribe, produce, and adapt braille materials in accordance with educational and accessibility standards Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Collaborative, communicative, and flexible approach to working with diverse teams Experience in a school or educational setting preferred Relevant certification or training in assistive technology and/or braille transcription
Key Responsibilities:
Assess student needs and recommend appropriate assistive technology tools and devices Adapt and produce classroom materials in braille, large print, or digital formats as required Train staff and students in the effective use of assistive technologies and braille literacy Stay current with advances in both assistive technology and braille standards Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for devices and software Collaborate with educational teams on individualized education program (IEP) goals and documentation
