This contract opportunity centers around offering 1:1 assistance to a visually impaired child in a school setting, directly impacting their learning and experience.

Responsibilities:

Support a kindergarten student with visual impairment throughout the school morning. Assist with safety needs during classroom activities and transitions, ensuring a secure environment. Provide braille support and adaptations under the guidance of a vision specialist and the RSP Teacher. Collaborate with the classroom and special education staff to implement accommodations. Encourage independence, engagement, and participation in daily activities. Maintain clear, compassionate communication with students, educators, and support personnel.

Qualifications and Experience:

Previous experience as a paraprofessional, or in special education support, highly preferred. Comfort or familiarity working with students with visual impairments; knowledge of braille is advantageous. Ability to follow directions from specialists and adapt quickly to changing needs. Patience, empathy, and dedication to student-centered support. Strong communication and teamwork skills. High school diploma or equivalent required.
