Summary Assists in the development of a comprehensive forensic center while reporting to Nursing Leadership. The Coordinator of the Forensic Program has the responsibility for monitoring, promoting, coordinating and evaluating all forensic related activities and to manage the forensic staff. This individual will fulfill his/her job responsibilities in collaboration with the Department of Nursing, Physicians, Ancillary staff, EMS, Legal and Administration. He/she demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide forensic care coordination for patients of any age. Job Duties Manages day-to-day forensic team operations and administration, schedule, payroll, employee evaluations, training. Develop and recommend evidence-based protocols and guidelines for best practice treatment of forensic patients across the continuum of care. Works with the Emergency Medical Services and the police to assure optimal continuity of care from pre-hospital to hospital. Work closely with the community agencies to assure metrics are in place for continuous implementation in the care of the forensic patients. Facilitates ongoing educational activities and awareness related to the care of the forensic patients to nursing staff and other healthcare providers within the institution. Participates in hospital-based community health programs to promote awareness and education of forensic patient health issues in the community. Achieve and maintain compliance with all local, regional and national levels related to best practices for forensic patients. Speaks at educational conferences and becomes involved with, and serves as a member of the Emergency nurse association (ENA), the Sexual assault response team (SART), the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN), and the Academy of Forensic Nursing (AFN). Holds monthly forensic team meetings and provides continuing education to team members. Attends court when requested as an expert witness. Provide medical-forensic care to patients who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, strangulation, elder abuse, human trafficking and other violent crimes through direct patient care. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and completed training to become a Forensic Nurse. 4 years years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting and completion of the requirements to obtain a SANE-A certification (minimum 40-hr SANE didactic course and accrual of 300 hours of SANE related practice within the past 3 years). Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, EMR). Excellent oral and written communication skills. Customer satisfaction. Problem solving and organizational skills. Knowledge of relevant software and hardware. RN
