Full Job Description Position:
Lunch Support Position Summary The Lunch Support staff member plays an important role in creating a safe, positive, and orderly lunch environment for elementary students. This individual supervises students during lunch, promotes respectful behavior, encourages independence, and helps ensure that all students have a positive experience while following school expectations. Essential Responsibilities Supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch periods. Monitor student behavior and reinforce school-wide expectations. Assist younger students with opening food containers, milk cartons, and other lunch-related needs while encouraging independence. Promote a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students. Support students in resolving minor conflicts using positive behavior strategies. Communicate student concerns or significant incidents to school administration or designated staff. Help maintain a clean and organized cafeteria by encouraging students to clean their eating areas. Assist with the coordination of cafeteria sustainability and composting program efforts. Ensure students safely transition to and from the cafeteria. Respond appropriately to emergencies by following school safety procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or designee. Qualifications Two years of higher education is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with students, under the direction of the teacher, nurse and/or support staff. Ability to support and reinforce the teacher's expectations for students. Supervision/Evaluation Supervised by the Building Administration. Physical and Environmental Demands The physical and environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Training will be provided as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
