Job Description
COMMUNITY CENTER AFTER SCHOOL COUNSELOR-2024/2025
school year (part-time) Starting Rate $13.77/hour Seeking dependable, energetic, and responsible individuals to join Greenville County Rec as an After-School Program Counselor for children in grades K-5 through 8th grade. This position performs a variety of duties assisting in implementing a safe and fun after-school program, including: Assisting the After School Coordinator in organizing and presenting a diversified after-school program; Supervising program participants to maintain order and safety; Assisting with homework and school assignments; Assisting with planning and presenting daily programs - character development games, arts and crafts, sports activities, etc.; Setting up for & cleaning up after programs and activities, including the daily meal program; Assisting with maintaining activity supplies and materials; Communicating appropriately with parents, participants, coworkers and Supervisors; Driving a 15-passenger van/bus and ensuring the safety of all riders (if necessary). Completes any additional duties as they apply to operating a quality program from our participants Afterschool Operating Hours (varies): Mondays-Fridays, 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM (approximately 20 hours per week)
Qualifications:
Minimum hiring age is 18. Requires HS diploma (or equivalent), a minimum of three months relevant experience, and valid state driver's license (or state issued photo ID). Must possess or obtain current CPR/First Aid/AED certification (Greenville Rec will provide this training to staff if necessary). Prefer the ability to drive a 15 passenger mini-bus. This position is considered to be safety sensitive and is therefore subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing.
