On-Site (Hickory, KY) Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Technical Illustrator & Documentation Specialist to translate complex OEM technical data packages (TDPs) into high-quality, exploded-view Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs) and line drawings for our technical manuals, service guides, and intellectual property filings. In this role, you will bridge technical engineering data and practical user documentation, creating precise vector artwork and assisting with technical writing to support our growing HVAC product lines. Key Responsibilities
• Technical Illustration & IPB Creation Convert OEM technical data packages (TDPs), CAD models (STEP/IGES), 3D assemblies, and physical prototypes into exploded-view Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs) with callouts and itemized bill-of-materials (BOM) keys. Create high-precision line art, vector illustrations, schematics, and component diagrams for installation manuals, owner guides, and service/troubleshooting documentation. Standardize illustration styles across all product lines following internal brand guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• USPTO Patent & Intellectual Property Drawing Standards Prepare and format patent illustration drawings in accordance with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) standards (including sheet margins, line weights, shading techniques, hatchings, and reference numbers). Collaborate with engineering and legal teams to visually document proprietary product designs, mechanical brackets, and innovative HVAC features for patent applications.
• Technical Writing & Manual Development (Plus) Assist technical writers in drafting clear, concise installation procedures, maintenance steps, safety warnings, and troubleshooting workflows. Review and audit OEM-supplied documentation to align terminology, formatting, and structural instructions for North American technicians and consumers. Qualifications & Requirements

Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in technical illustration, draftsmanship, or publication design (HVAC, consumer hardware, or manufacturing sectors preferred).

Software Proficiency:
Advanced expertise in vector illustration software (Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, or Canvas GF X). Proficiency in 3D CAD rendering and conversion tools (e.g., SolidWorks Composer, Autodesk Inventor, Creo Illustrate, or Rhino).

Technical Standards & Knowledge:
Proven understanding of USPTO patent drawing guidelines (37 CFR 1.84) for utility and design patents. Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, orthographic projections, electrical schematics, and exploded assembly drawings.

Communication & Detail:
Strong organizational skills with keen attention to mechanical accuracy, scale, and clear visual communication.
