Leading Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with contracts nationwide and multiple offices across the US seeks an experienced Inspection Technician to support fire alarm, fire suppression, and life safety inspection requirements at a federal healthcare site in Tucson, AZ. HurtVet specializes in fire protection, life safety, and physical security services for numerous federal agencies.
In this role you will:
Perform scheduled fire hydrant, fire department connection (FDC), sprinkler, fire alarm device, and exit lighting inspections (monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual)
Complete and submit clear, accurate, and timely digital inspection reports and device inventories through the contract's web-based reporting system
Develop site-specific knowledge of customer site buildings, systems, and /NFPA compliance standards
Primary Tasks & Responsibilities:
Perform quarterly Fire Department Connection (FDC) inspections
IAW NFPA 25
Perform quarterly visual sprinkler system inspections (tamper and flow)
IAW NFPA 25
Perform monthly inspections of emergency exit lighting and exit
IAW NFPA 101
Conduct quarterly and semi-annual visual inspection of all campus fire alarm devices and provide a written device report
IAW NFPA 72
Accurately complete and submit deficiency reports, and device inventories within the reporting timeframes required by the contract
Work in compliance with HurtVet and federal (VA/NFPA) safety regulations and guidelines, with safety of self and others always in mind
Assist in coordinating scheduling and site access with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) or designee for all activity
Work with project managers and office staff to ensure proper job handoff and documentation so that work can be invoiced in a timely manner
Serve as the primary onsite representative of HurtVet with top-tier professionalism and customer service
Travel between buildings across the customer site as needed; inventory and maintain tools, materials, and equipment in good order
Meet responsibilities to the client, fellow local support staff, and HurtVet by showing up on time, ready to work, and representing the company with pride
Perform other responsibilities and duties associated with this position as may be appropriate
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Broad general technical / mechanical background
Working knowledge of, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn, NFPA 25 (sprinkler systems), NFPA 72 (fire alarm systems), and
Demonstrated history of reliability and professionalism in a client-facing environment
Team player and self-starter who communicates well and can work independently with minimal oversight to a recurring monthly/quarterly inspection schedule
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and familiarity with MS Office applications and usage of tablets/iPads for digital reporting
Physical ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs without reasonable accommodation, and navigate mechanical rooms and construction areas unaided. Regular bending, reaching, climbing, and walking required
Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Must be able to pass the site-required personnel vetting/background investigation (per
VAAR 852.204-72
) and obtain and maintain a site-issued PIV or facility identification badge
Must be able to pass post-offer drug screen, background check, and reference check
Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Tucson, AZ. This position works fully onsite at customer site; it is not eligible for remote work or relocation assistance; local candidates only Preferred Qualifications (Highly Valued):
NICET II
certification (Fire Alarm or Fire Sprinkler)
Previous inspection and maintenance experience with fire alarm devices, wet/dry sprinkler systems, fire hydrants, FDCs, and/or emergency/exit lighting
Prior experience working on a VA or other federal healthcare campus
Cross-training in multiple fire protection fields such as fire alarm, fire sprinkler, fire extinguisher, or emergency lighting
OSHA 10/30
training or other safety certifications
Associate's Degree or other advanced technical education
Special consideration will be given to candidates with existing site knowledge of the local federal healthcare facilities

Compensation:

Work Location:
