Fire Hose & Ladder Testing Technician Top Rung Inspection and Testing (A JLN Safety Company) About the Role Are you passionate about the fire service? Top Rung is seeking dedicated individuals to join our field testing teams. As a Testing Technician, you play a critical role in firefighter safety by ensuring the equipment they rely on - hoses, ground ladders, and aerials - meets strict NFPA safety standards. This is a physically demanding, travel-heavy role perfect for those who thrive in a team environment and take pride in precision and safety.
Key Responsibilities Field Testing:
Execute fire hose and ladder testing procedures in accordance with NFPA 1911, 1932, and 1901.
Equipment Management:
Prep, operate, and stow specialized test equipment; ensure all gear is accounted for and maintained.
Documentation:
Accurately log test results using tablets and laptops; maintain neat and organized inspection records.
Professionalism:
Serve as a face of the company, communicating professionally with Fire Department personnel and municipal staff.
Safety Compliance:
Strictly adhere to JLN/Top Rung safety guidelines and wear required PPE (safety footwear, eyewear, etc.) at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience:
Familiarity with Fire Department operations, terminology, and NFPA standards is a major plus.
Physical Ability:
Must be able to perform strenuous manual labor outdoors for long hours, including lifting, pulling, and carrying equipment weighing 50-100+ lbs .
Travel:
Willingness to travel 75% of the time throughout the Northeast and Southeast, including occasional overnight stays.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with electronic devices (tablets/laptops) for data entry.
Certifications:
Firefighter certifications and a CDL (Class A or B) are preferred but not required.
Reliability:
Must have a clean driving record (MVR) and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check (including drug/alcohol screening and fitness-for-duty evaluation). Why Join Top Rung?
