Firearms Range Safety Officer

Job Description

Join a leader in the shooting sports industry! Silver Eagle Group has a specialized firearms training and retail center conveniently located in Ashburn, VA. We have an immediate need for full-time and part-time Range Safety Officers. The Range Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all shooters on the SEG ranges adhere to SEG range policies and procedures and conduct themselves in a safe manner. Additionally, the Range Safety Officer must ensure that the range is clean and safe before allowing shooters on the range. Schedule may require evenings and weekends. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Possess strong knowledge and understanding of all rules and policies in regards to range usage and safety procedures; ensures all policies and procedures comply with SEG requirements. Implement emergency response procedures when needed. Ensure that the range is safe, secure and clean before allowing shooters access to the range. Maintain a clean environment at all times in accordance with SEG policy. Maintain a safe and secure environment for all employees and customers; remove unsafe shooters from the range. Monitor all shooters on the range to ensure that they adhere to SEG range policies and procedures; ensure all shooters utilize the proper safety equipment. Provide shooters with the proper weapon handling procedures and assist shooters with minor weapons issues when necessary. Monitor all range equipment and shut down range if there is an equipment failure or unsafe action. Open and close the range in accordance with manufacturer and SEG specifications.
Job Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED 21 years or older Possession of a Range Safety Officer certification as approved by SEG management, which must be completed within 90 days of employment. Completion of the basic SEG firearms training course, which must be completed within 90 days of employment. Strong knowledge and understanding of weapons systems and ammunition. Strong communication skills Strong customer service skills Strong multi-tasking skills Must be a team player Preferred current CPR/First Aid certification
Physical Requirements Standing/Walking/Mobility:
Must have mobility to attend meetings with managers and other staff
Climbing/Stopping/Kneeling:
5%-25% of the time
Lifting/Pulling/Pushing:
25%-49% of the time
Fingering/Grasping/Feeling:
Must be able to handle weapons 100% of the time; write, type, use the computer and telephone systems 5-25% of the time
Physical Dimensions:
Medium work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force constantly and/or 30 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
