•The City of Grandview is seeking qualified, motivated professionals to join our Fire Department as Firefighter/Paramedics . This position provides critical fire protection and advanced emergency medical services to the Grandview community. Firefighter/Paramedics respond to a variety of emergency situations, including fires, medical emergencies, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergency management situations. We are looking for individuals who can remain calm under pressure, work effectively as part of a team, communicate professionally with the public, and are committed to maintaining the high physical and technical standards required in the fire service. What You'll Do As a Firefighter/Paramedic, your responsibilities will include: Responding to emergency incidents involving fires, rescues, extractions, searches, hazardous materials, and other emergency situations. Providing advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical care in challenging environments. Administering IV medications and scheduled narcotics, managing invasive airways, and interpreting cardiac rhythms within established medical protocols. Performing triage during multi-patient incidents. Operating firefighting apparatus, emergency medical equipment, extrication and rescue equipment, aerial equipment, and other specialized tools and vehicles. Participating in ongoing technical and physical training to maintain required skills and certifications. Precepting EMS students at the EMT-Basic and Paramedic levels. Assisting with fire prevention programs, public safety education, station tours, demonstrations, and community events. Completing incident documentation and communicating information to supervisors and appropriate agencies. Cleaning, maintaining, and performing minor repairs to department facilities and equipment. Serving as incident commander when appropriate and in the absence of superior personnel.

Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess:

High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational/technical training in firefighting and emergency medical treatment. Two years of firefighting and paramedic experience, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid state driver's license. Firefighter I and II certifications. HazMat Awareness certification. HazMat Operations certification. Missouri EMT-Paramedic license. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider CPR certification. NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800. Employees holding required fire service certifications are expected to perform their duties in accordance with nationally recognized professional standards, including applicable NFPA standards, Pro Board/IFSAC competencies, department policies, training directives, and accepted fire service safety practices. Maintain the physical conditioning necessary to perform demanding fire and emergency response duties. Physical Demands & Work Environment This is a physically demanding position requiring regular and sustained heavy physical effort. Employees must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects and materials weighing up to 100 pounds and, occasionally, more than 100 pounds. Firefighter/Paramedics work in emergency environments that may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, smoke, fumes, hazardous materials, traffic hazards, machinery, electrical hazards, severe weather, violence, disease, and other potentially dangerous conditions.
