Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic emergency response team as a Firefighter/Paramedic, where you will play a vital role in safeguarding lives, property, and the environment. This energetic position combines firefighting expertise with advanced emergency medical skills, requiring quick thinking, decisive action, and a commitment to public safety. As a Firefighter/Paramedic, you will respond to a wide range of incidents, from fires and hazardous materials situations to medical emergencies and rescue operations. Your dedication will help ensure the safety and well-being of our community while providing exceptional care and support during critical moments. Duties Respond promptly to emergency calls involving fires, medical incidents, hazardous materials, and rescue operations. Operate firefighting equipment including hoses, ladders, and fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA standards. Provide advanced emergency medical care such as CPR, first aid, and basic life support (BLS) to patients at the scene and during transport. Use personal protective equipment (PPE), self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and respiratory protection gear effectively to ensure safety during hazardous environments. Participate in incident command activities to coordinate response efforts efficiently during complex emergencies. Manage hazardous materials incidents by following HAZMAT protocols for environmental protection and hazardous materials response. Conduct fire prevention inspections, maintain firefighting apparatus, and perform routine mechanical checks to ensure readiness. Engage in training exercises covering firefighting techniques, environmental hazards, aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF), forest fire management, and NFPA standards compliance. Assist with heavy lifting and mechanical tasks during rescue operations or equipment maintenance as needed. Monitor vital signs of patients and communicate critical health information accurately to medical teams for effective treatment. Skills Proven EMT experience with strong knowledge of emergency medicine procedures. Expertise in firefighting techniques combined with familiarity with NFPA standards for safety and operations. Skilled in hazardous materials incident response including HAZMAT protocols and environmental protection measures. Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely through commercial driving skills; experience with aircraft rescue or forest fire management is a plus. Proficient in incident command systems for coordinated emergency response efforts. Excellent physical fitness for heavy lifting, prolonged standing, climbing ladders, and working in challenging environments. Strong mechanical knowledge for maintaining firefighting equipment and rescue tools. Effective communicator capable of assessing vital signs, providing clear instructions, and collaborating within team settings. Join us in making a difference!
