Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Civil Process Deputy and become a vital part of the justice system by executing and managing legal documents with precision and professionalism. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for serving a wide variety of legal papers, including subpoenas, eviction notices, restraining orders, and other court documents. Your efforts will ensure that legal processes are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with procedural law. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the fair administration of justice while developing your skills in process serving, record management, and legal compliance. Duties Serve a comprehensive range of legal documents such as subpoenas, summons, eviction notices, restraining orders, child support papers, lien documents, foreclosure notices, injunctions, divorce papers, criminal and civil complaints, petitions, trust documents, and writs. Utilize mobile data collection software and mobile devices to document service attempts and successful deliveries accurately. Manage process serving records meticulously by filing proofs of service in accordance with legal requirements. Conduct private investigations when necessary to locate defendants or witnesses for service. Maintain professional ethics at all times while serving documents with integrity and respect for confidentiality. Scan and organize process serving records for easy retrieval and compliance audits. Serve notices to quit, wage garnishment documents, custody orders, deed documents, contract documents, injunctions, lien notices, trust documents, foreclosure notices, and other legal papers as assigned. File proof of service promptly in the appropriate court or legal entity to confirm completion of service. Experience Proven experience in process serving or a related field such as courier services or private investigation is highly desirable but not mandatory. Strong knowledge of procedural law related to serving legal documents across jurisdictions. Familiarity with mobile data collection software and mobile devices used for documentation purposes. Excellent report writing skills to accurately detail service attempts and outcomes. Ability to serve a variety of legal documents including small claims papers, child support notices, restraining orders, summonses, eviction notices, liens, foreclosure notices, divorce papers, criminal complaints, petitions, custody orders, writs and injunctions. Demonstrated professionalism with a commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality. Experience managing process serving records efficiently and filing proofs of service correctly in court systems or legal databases. Valid driver's license is mandatory.
Working Conditions:
The Civil Process Deputy may be required to interact with customers in the Civil Process office, on the phone or in the public domain who are under emotional stress. The Civil Process Deputy must also be cognizant of the confidential and sensitive nature of court and legal information and working for a law enforcement agency.
