Job Description
General Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for verifying the legal residence of students whose domicile within the Orangefield Independent School District is in question.
Essential Functions:
Assists departmental and campus staff with procedures, documentation, and investigations of residence verifications, enrollment/student recovery, attendance, truancy, and other related issues.
Works with campus personnel in interpreting and enforcing compulsory attendance laws and resolving truancy, excessive absences, and tardiness problems. Assists in enforcing residency, enrollment/student recovery, anti-truancy, and related compliance policies and administrative procedures. Maintain contact and act as liaison to local law enforcement agencies and courts in the area of student truancy. Investigate, interview, and assess residence, enrollment/student recovery, anti-truancy, and related issues. Serve as representative for the school district in court hearings resulting from attendance problems. Pursue non-residency and false claims of residency on behalf of the school district.
Review documents to determine the student's eligibility to attend schools in the district; verify proof of residency documents presented at centralized registration. Review shared housing documentation (i.e., affidavit of residency) and follow-ups on required information. Interpret school district policies and regulations regarding residency requirements to parents. Conduct home visits to verify the address designated as the student's primary residence and parent conferences on student truancy and attendance problems. Conducts spot-checks at key drop-off locations to assist in determining the residency of students in question. Maintain files and records regarding residency inquiries; ensure the availability of documentation and compliance with established guidelines.
Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience directly related to the essential tasks.
Two years working in compliance, law enforcement, social work or with children or adults in a leadership role. Experience in school system setting, investigation experience, or experience directly related to the essential functions.
