Contigo Law is looking for an attorney to join our Provo office. We are an established and growing law firm practicing primarily in immigration law, with a significant focus on detention, asylum, removal defense, and family-based immigration. Our attorneys regularly confront novel legal issues, changing areas of law, and cases where creative and careful advocacy can make an enormous difference for our clients and the community. We strive to keep our firm on the cutting edge of the legal landscape. This is a demanding position, but it is also an unusually rewarding one. The Position The attorney will be based primarily in our Provo office and will work closely with our attorneys and paralegals in both Provo and Murray.
Responsibilities will include:
Representing clients before USCIS and the Immigration Courts; Handling asylum, removal-defense, and family-based immigration matters; Conducting initial client consultations and developing case strategies; Researching and briefing complex and evolving legal issues; Supervising and collaborating with paralegals and other staff; Appearing in court and at immigration interviews and hearings; and Helping clients understand difficult situations and feel confident in the representation they receive. Federal litigation including habeas petitions and mandamus actions. We are not necessarily looking for someone who already knows immigration law. Prior immigration experience is not required. We are looking for someone intelligent, curious, compassionate, dependable, and eager to become an excellent attorney. Compensation will reflect relevant experience. For the right person, we hope this will be much more than another associate-attorney position. Our goal is to find someone who can take on increasing responsibility, help lead our Provo office, and ultimately have the opportunity to work toward becoming a shareholder in the firm. Requirements Active law license in any U.S. state; a Utah license is not required but is preferred. Professional fluency in both English and Spanish. Strong writing, research, and analytical skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Empathy and patience when working with clients facing stressful circumstances. Willingness to tackle difficult cases and unfamiliar legal questions.
