Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our legal team as Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys in various capacities, including 1L, 2L, 3L, and Rule 9 Extra Hire & Intern positions. This paid role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in criminal prosecution while developing essential legal skills. As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, you will assist in preparing cases, conducting legal research, and supporting courtroom proceedings under the supervision of experienced prosecutors. This role is ideal for aspiring legal professionals eager to make a meaningful impact within the justice system and enhance their knowledge of criminal law and litigation practices. Responsibilities Conduct legal research on statutes, case law, and procedural law to support prosecution strategies. Assist in preparing case files, including drafting motions, pleadings, and legal documents with precision and clarity. Participate in court depositions and trial preparation activities to ensure cases are ready for court proceedings. Support prosecutors during court hearings by organizing evidence and managing case documentation. Engage in client communication by providing updates and answering inquiries related to ongoing cases. .Build a deep command of criminal law, trial procedures, and case management tactics. Navigate emotionally charged dynamics with high emotional intelligence and composure.
Qualifications Education:
Current enrollment in an ABA-accredited law school (1L, 2L, or 3L) or recent J.D. graduate. Demonstrated interest or coursework in criminal prosecution or related legal fields such as litigation or trial advocacy. Excellent research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw for statutory and case law analysis. Strong legal writing and drafting abilities with attention to detail. Effective oral communication skills suitable for client interaction and courtroom support. Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while adhering to deadlines. Prior experience or familiarity with court depositions, trial preparation, legal motion preparation, and procedural law is preferred but not required. This paid internship provides valuable exposure to criminal prosecution processes while fostering professional growth within a supportive team environment. Pay:
$31.00 - $39.00 per hour Expected hours: 15.0 - 40.0 per week
