POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION

DEPUTY

SHERIFF POSITION VACANCY

The Bay County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff . The entry level compensation for this position is $57,750 ($57,200 + $550 Retention/Longevity Pay) , commensurate with experience.

BENEFITS

Retirement through Florida State Retirement system. $150,000 intentional act death, $50,000 occupational accidental death and $50,000 fresh pursuit/response to emergency accidental death insurance. ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

(1) Patrols a designated area of Bay County to preserve the peace, prevent and discover criminal acts and to enforce the traffic laws of the State of Florida. (2) Respond to calls for service, including but not limited to complaints involving drunkenness, domestic disturbances, fires, theft, as well as other felony and misdemeanor violations of law. (3) Administers first aid at scenes of motor vehicle crashes as well as to sick and injured persons. (4) Conduct preliminary investigations, including but not limited to, protesting and collecting physical evidence, interviewing complainants, witnesses and suspects involved in crimes. (5) Prepares a variety of written reports concerning involvements in the duties assigned. (6) Prepares criminal complaints to initiate the arrest of law violators. (7) Initiates arrest of law violators. (8) Involved in traffic control as well as the investigation of motor vehicle crashes. (9) Provides advice and general information to the public. (10) Make interpretations of state law and county ordinances. (11) Assists Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies as well as other Divisions of the Bay County Sheriffs Office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(1) Graduation from high school or possession of an accredited equivalency diploma. (2) Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida. Applicants will also be required to pass a physical abilities test and written examination to proceed further in the Selection Process. Physical abilities testing, written test and oral board interview will be conducted at the Bay County Sheriff's Office. (Must have physicians release to participate in physical abilities testing!)
