Job Summary West Conshohocken offers the opportunity to inherit a respected department, preserve the trust it has earned, and prepare a promising generation of officers to lead it forward. The Chief of Police serves as the department's executive leader, with primary responsibility for personnel, policy, budgeting, planning, organizational development, and coordination with Borough leadership. The Borough is seeking a visible and approachable leader who values personal relationships, develops officers, works closely with Borough leadership, and understands both the close-knit residential community and its active business district. Given the department's size and community-centered character, the chief will remain operationally engaged, periodically work patrol, and assist with coverage when circumstances warrant. The role is not intended to replace appropriate line staffing. Duties Provide strategic leadership and direction for all police department operations, ensuring efficient and effective law enforcement services. Oversee daily police activities including patrols, investigations, traffic enforcement, and emergency response coordination. Supervise department personnel, including hiring, training, evaluating performance, and fostering professional development. Develop and implement policies aligned with local ordinances, criminal law, procedural law, and law enforcement best practices. Oversee investigations involving criminal activity, traffic incidents, evidence collection, and criminal procedure adherence. Maintain strong community engagement through outreach programs, public safety education, and transparent communication. Ensure compliance with all legal requirements such as evidence law, search and seizure law, and use of force protocols. Oversee departmental record keeping, including report writing, incident documentation, shift logs, and administrative reports. Coordinate with emergency services and local agencies to ensure seamless response during crises or special events. Requirements At least ten years of progressively responsible, full-time sworn law enforcement experience. At least three years of meaningful police supervisory experience. Demonstrated responsibility for supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and correcting sworn personnel. Experience with community-oriented policing and public engagement. Police administration experience involving personnel, scheduling, policy, budgeting, compliance, or resource management. A record of ethical conduct, sound judgment, professional credibility, and effective communication. A valid driver's license. Current Pennsylvania MPOETC certification or eligibility through an applicable certification or waiver pathway. Ability to satisfy all required background, medical, psychological, and other pre-employment requirements.

Pay:

$145,000.00 - $155,000.00 per year
