Primary Purpose:
Direct and manage District Police Department. Coordinate daily operations of department to ensure and provide safe environment for students, staff and visitors. Oversee district staffing, training and equipment need's for district as required by Texas laws. Ensure enforcement of all federal, state and local laws and ordinances.
Qualifications:
Education /
Certification:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent law enforcement experience and training.
High school diploma or GED
Texas Peace Officer license issued and in good standing by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) (Preferred Master Proficiency Certificate)
Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Bondable as required by Texas Education Code 37.081(h)
Successful completion of training required by Texas Education Code (TEC) 96.641 and
Texas Occupation Code 1701.263 (As required by state law)
In good standing with current and previous agencies
Special Knowledge /
Skills:
Knowledge of overall operations of a police department
Knowledge of criminal investigations, police report writing and Texas laws
Knowledge of Incident Command
Strong public relations, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Law Enforcement experience in supervisory or command capacity
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
Direct the daily operations of the district police department to ensure effective and professional policing.
Ensure the district is within compliance of all state laws involving safety and security.
Provide training and ensure officers and ISD Marshals are properly trained and equipped.
Enforce, investigate and make recommendations on incidents that are criminal in nature
Coordinate training and enforcement activities with other department directors and Campus principals.
Serve as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the district
Serve as district liaison to state and local agencies
Select, train, supervise and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignments,
retention, discipline and/or dismissal.
Prepare, review, and maintain police department job description and policies
Maintain evidence and property room
Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records and documents as required
Maintain and evaluate department budget needs to ensure that operations are
cost-effective and funds are managed wisely
Assist district with Behavioral Threat Assessment Team

Maintain emotionalcontrol under stress; potential for prolonged hours; on call 24 hours a day.
