The Police Records Clerk maintains all records, documents, and filings for the police department and provides professional office, clerical, and customer service work for the Police Department.
Knowledge of:
Basic office and police department procedures. National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). Texas Crime Information Center and National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC).
Ability to:
Operate standard office equipment such as personal computer, calculator, and telephone. Use routine mathematical calculations. Prioritize and organize various assignments in order to produce efficient results. Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. Understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Provide tactful and appropriate responses to inquiries from the public, other departments, or agencies. Establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: High School diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of municipal records management and general clerical experience.
Must pass MVR check.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
Must pass polygraph.
Must pass background investigation.
Must type 45 wpm.
Notary License or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
NCIC/TCIC
Certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months.
Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
