$86,859.95 - $114,003.97

Starting pay will be commensurate with the candidate's years of experience as a full-time police officer. Eight (8) years of full-time police officer experience is required to reach the maximum pay.

• Current contract expires 4/30/27

Position Details

IMMEDIATE OPENING

The Village of Cary, Illinois is accepting applications to establish a Lateral/Certified Entry police officer eligibility list for the position of police officer with the Cary Police Department.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Vision correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
  • Pass medical exam, including drug screening
  • Successfully completed two (2) years of continuous employment as a full-time law enforcement officer in a municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency.
  • In good standing with the police department the applicant is currently serving in, or has separated from, with no adverse employment actions.
  • Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a Village of Cary Police Officer who has completed their probationary period, as determined by the Village.

Taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a police officer. (Certified entry candidates who have been determined by the Commission to meet the aforementioned requirements will not be required to attend and orientation or take a written examination. For such candidates, the examinations process may consist of a background investigation, oral interview, polygraph, psychological, physical agility examination, and medical examination.)
