$78,090 - $117,148 (Contract expired April 2026, in negotiations) Entry level Officer salary is $78,090 but based on experience the Lateral Officer Salary could be increased to $100,412.

5,077 Position Details South Barrington Lateral Police Officer South Barrington is an exceptional community, and the South Barrington Police Commission is seeking exceptional candidates to join the ranks of the Police Department. We maintain high standards and offer the opportunity to be part of a professional organization dedicated to serving the community with honor, integrity, and respect in every situation. South Barrington is home to several notable destinations, including The Arboretum Lifestyle Shopping Center, a 24-screen AMC Theatre, and Willow Creek Community Church, one of the largest congregations in the United States. The community is also home to Goebbert's Farm and Garden Center, which hosts its popular Fall Festival each year, attracting thousands of visitors and serving as a cherished family tradition. These attractions contribute to a vibrant community that keeps our department actively engaged in service. The South Barrington Police Department currently consists of 20 full-time police officers, 5 part-time officers, two full-time records clerks, and one full-time administrative assistant. The Village serves a population of 5,077 residents within approximately eight square miles and operates as a home-rule community. Village ordinance requires that applicants be a certified police officers in good standing, as recognized by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board under Section 8.1 of the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/8.1), and must meet the following additional requirements: Currently working as a full-time police officer for an Illinois law enforcement agency; or Retired as a full-time officer from an Illinois law enforcement agency; or Laid off as a full-time officer from an Illinois law enforcement agency
Requirements:
At least 21 years old United States citizen Bachelor's Degree Valid driver's license At least two (2) years of experience as a full-time sworn, certified law enforcement officer with an Illinois law enforcement agency State of Illinois certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Application packets are available at: OR
