JOB DESCRIPTION

Pay starts at $57,200, plus a $4,653 annual state incentive upon completion of police academy, for a total of $61,853 with higher pay for up to 10 years of experience for lateral candidates. New Hires will be required to sign a 3 year contract upon hiring. This contract is non-prorated for new hires, and prorated for lateral candidates.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS FOR ELIZABETHTOWN POLICE OFFICER

Be a U.S. Citizen 21 years of age at the time of written test High School Graduate or GED No Felony Convictions Able to read, write, and understand English Valid Operator's License Not prohibited by state or federal law from possessing a firearm Have not received a dishonorable discharge or general discharge under dishonorable conditions from a military service branch. Have not had certification as a peace officer revoked from another state Be able to pass a background investigation Be able to pass all physical and suitability screening examinations required to be a police officer, including a polygraph examination Physical testing requirements can be found at http://docjt.ky.gov No visible tattoos on hands, face, or neck. No use or possession of marijuana in the past 12 months No use or possession of any other illegal drug in the past five years Have not demonstrated a pattern of not paying owed debt (poor credit habits)
