Job Responsibilities Responsible for planning, initiating, implementing, evaluating and revising a broad range of Law Enforcement courses, programs, and instructional techniques including the Basic Police Academy, in collaboration with faculty and staff. Develops Police Academy Policies and Procedures Responsible for Police Academy and advanced police training adjunct faculty recruitment, assignments and supervision. Assures proper training site facilities and equipment is leased or purchased as required to retain our status of Regional Training Center for State of Michigan Insure the utilization of diverse, active advisory committee for the Police Academy Foster and nurture relationships and serve as a liaison with area police departments and law enforcement agencies Select, recommend and evaluate full time and adjunct faculty and staff in accord with College policies and provisions of labor. Encourage and promote in-service training and professional development of police academy adjunct faculty and staff. Participate in Police Academy and Advanced Police Training budget development and monitors budget. Meet with police academy cadets to discuss problems or complaints and assists in devising equitable responses and solutions. Function as the management link between the adjunct faculty in the Police Academy and Advanced Police Training and the Public Service Institute Director's office. Coordinate the scheduling of faculty, courses, and facilities related to the Police Academy and Advanced Police Training Achieve understanding of and implements all appropriate labor contract provisions and personnel policies. Assure an interdisciplinary coordination of law enforcement programs and foster curriculum integration throughout the Continuum of Learning Evaluate program success through follow-up studies of graduates and other data provided by Institutional Research and other measures of student success. Assist in maintenance and security of police academy supplies, equipment and facilities. Serve on College, local, state, and national committees and represent the Director of the Public Service Institute as appropriate. Foster, nurture, and support new advanced police training program development. Maintain police training reports and records including appropriate inventory records Develop and recommend criteria for student placement within the Police Academy. Monitor and maintain compliance with College policies, procedures, and contracts as well as appropriate state, federal, accreditation, licensure, registration and/or certification requirements of law enforcement programs. Collaborates with Advisory Board; Police Chiefs Associations; and Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). Act as Macomb Community College's liaison with MCOLES on all issues related to basic police academy, law enforcement training, use of force and firearms. Review and approve all use-of-force, and firearms range use lesson plans, ensuring compliance with governing entities and industry standards as related to vicarious liability. Develop and implement an annual budget and pricing policy to assure an efficient operation and reasonable return on college investment related to Basic Police Academy and Advanced Police Training. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution is required. Qualifications Minimum ten years law enforcement experience with five or more years at a command officer level.
