The Ligonier Valley Police Department is seeking a dedicated, professional, and community-minded School Resource Officer (SRO) to serve the students, staff, and families of the Ligonier Valley School District. The School Resource Officer will work collaboratively with school administrators, faculty, students, parents, and community partners to promote a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment. The SRO will assume patrol officer duties when school is not in session. Responsibilities Provide a visible and approachable law-enforcement presence within the school district Build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the community Respond to safety concerns and assist with crisis prevention and intervention Support school safety planning, emergency preparedness, and security initiatives Provide education and presentations on safety, law enforcement, and crime prevention Investigate incidents and coordinate with school officials and appropriate agencies Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for all members of the school community Assume patrol officer duties with the Ligonier Valley Police Department when school is not in session Additional Benefits Healthcare upon hire with no deductibles and very low copays Longevity pay after five years Paid personal and sick days 11 Holidays paid at double time and a half if worked No requirement for pension contribution by officers Minimum Qualifications Pennsylvania Act 120 certification Current or eligible Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer certification Valid Pennsylvania driver's license Successful completion of required background checks and employment screenings Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, school personnel, and the public Prior school-based law-enforcement, youth-services, crisis-intervention, or community-policing experience is preferred

Pay:

$52,582.40 - $55,382.67 per year
