POSITION SUMMARY
Police Officers enforce local, state, and federal laws within the City of Sansom Park and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service. Officers conduct proactive patrol, investigate criminal activity and traffic crashes, make arrests, issue citations, conduct traffic enforcement, investigate crime scenes, prepare reports, transport prisoners, and perform other law-enforcement duties necessary to protect the community. Patrol Officers work varied 12-hour shifts that include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Because Sansom Park is a smaller department, officers may also have opportunities to assist with specialized functions and assignments based upon department needs, training, experience, and interest.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must: Be a United States citizen
Be at least 21 years of age
Possess a High School Diploma or GED
Be currently enrolled in, or have successfully completed, a TCOLE-approved Basic Peace Officer Course, or currently serve as a licensed Texas peace officer
Be eligible to obtain and maintain the TCOLE license and appointment required for the position
Possess a valid Texas Driver License
Have an acceptable driving history
Be of good moral character
Have an acceptable school and employment history
Successfully complete a comprehensive background investigation
Successfully complete an oral board interview
Successfully complete required physical and psychological examinations
Meet all applicable TCOLE and City of Sansom Park employment requirements Applicants may not have: A felony conviction
A Class A misdemeanor conviction
A misdemeanor conviction or deferred adjudication above a Class C misdemeanor within the preceding 10 years
A DWI conviction within the preceding 10 years
Current court-ordered community supervision or probation
