Commercial & Civil Litigation Attorney:
Chicago / Northwest Suburbs | Hybrid | 1,600-1,700 Billable Hours We are seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join a diverse civil and commercial litigation practice. This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants to broaden their litigation experience rather than be limited to one narrow practice area or case @type. The practice handles a wide range of sophisticated matters involving real estate disputes, commercial and business litigation, professional liability, and other complex civil matters, with representation on both the plaintiff and defense sides depending on the case. Hybrid work schedule available. The Practice Attorneys in this role will have exposure to matters involving: Real estate litigation and property disputes Commercial and business litigation Contract disputes Professional liability Wrongful death Nursing home litigation Other complex civil litigation Arbitration, mediation, and courtroom proceedings Both plaintiff and defense representation Strong general civil litigation experience is the primary requirement. Candidates are not expected to have experience in every practice area listed above. Responsibilities Manage civil litigation matters from inception through resolution Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filings Handle written discovery and take and defend depositions Develop case strategy and evaluate claims Attend court appearances, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations Communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel Prepare matters for trial Work directly with an experienced senior attorney on sophisticated litigation matters while independently managing assigned cases Qualifications 3+ years of civil litigation experience Illinois Bar admission Real estate litigation experience is highly preferred Commercial or business litigation experience is strongly valued Additional experience involving professional liability, wrongful death, nursing home litigation, or other complex civil matters is a plus Cook County litigation experience is preferred Strong legal research, writing, discovery, deposition, and motion practice skills Ability to independently manage matters and deadlines Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary based on experience Substantial bonus potential Approximately 1,600-1,700 annual billable hours Full benefits package
