Job Description

PART-TIME FAMILY LAW ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

3-Day Workweek | Dorr, Michigan Legacy Legal & Business Services PLC Legacy Legal & Business Services PLC is seeking an experienced Part-Time Family Law Associate Attorney to join our growing West Michigan law firm. This position is designed for an attorney who can confidently step into an active family law practice and independently handle cases, hearings, negotiations, and client matters. A Consistent 3-Day Schedule This is a part-time position of approximately 24 hours per week with a regular three-day schedule:

Monday:

8:00 a.m.

•4:30 p.m.

Tuesday:

8:00 a.m.

•4:30 p.m.

Thursday:

8:00 a.m.

•4:30 p.m. Occasional flexibility may be required for trials, evidentiary hearings, mediations, or other court-scheduled matters. Qualifications:

Position Responsibilities The Associate Attorney will primarily handle family law matters, including: Divorce Child custody and parenting time Child support Post-judgment matters Motions and evidentiary hearings Friend of the Court proceedings PPO matters, as appropriate Settlement negotiations and mediation preparation Miscellaneous cases and hearings as assigned Responsibilities include managing assigned cases, appearing in court, communicating with clients and opposing counsel, reviewing and preparing pleadings, developing case strategy, preparing for hearings and trials, and working closely with the firm's experienced paralegal team. Experience Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan Prior Michigan family law experience required Meaningful courtroom and motion-practice experience Ability to independently handle hearings and manage an assigned caseload Knowledge of Michigan divorce, custody, parenting time, and support law and procedures Strong legal writing, negotiation, advocacy, organization, and communication skills Willingness to handle miscellaneous legal matters outside family law as needed Ability to work collaboratively with paralegals and other members of the legal team This position is intended for an experienced attorney who can become productive with limited substantive training and take ownership of assigned family law matters.
