The Opportunity This is a growth-oriented role for a seasoned attorney who can independently lead complex matters, deliver trusted client counsel, and contribute at the Special Counsel or Partner level. The platform offers deep regional roots, broad litigation resources, and flexibility for the right senior candidate. What You'll Do Lead a sophisticated civil-defense caseload from initial assessment through resolution. Develop case strategy, direct discovery, take and defend depositions, brief dispositive issues, and negotiate settlements. Serve as first-chair or lead counsel in trials, arbitrations, mediations, and other contested proceedings. Counsel insurers, businesses, risk professionals, and other clients with practical, business-minded advice. Collaborate with attorneys and professional staff; mentor junior lawyers and contribute to practice growth. At the partner level, support client development and relationship management; a portable practice is welcomed but not stated as mandatory. Active North Carolina law license in good standing. At least 8 years of related civil-litigation experience. Substantial civil-defense experience; backgrounds involving construction litigation, products liability, professional liability, premises liability, or commercial litigation are especially relevant. Demonstrated ability to handle matters through trial and arbitration. Strong judgment, writing, advocacy, client-service, and matter-management skills. Leadership profile appropriate for Special Counsel or Partner-level consideration. Competitive compensation with performance-based opportunity.
