Full Job Description Job Summary:
Candidates for our Paralegal & Legal Support Specialist position must excel in research, time management, organization, written and verbal communication, and teamwork. Must have a solid understanding of legal terminology, procedures, motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, and court rules and procedures. Reliability and professionalism are crucial, as well as demonstrating initiative and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and professionalism are essential.
Responsibilities:
Detail-oriented and a self-starter with strong organizational skills and a high work ethic; Working knowledge of State and Federal Court procedures, including calendaring/docketing; Working knowledge of filing documents electronically via Pacer; Working knowledge in legal docketing software; Working knowledge and understanding of local jurisdictional and Federal Court rules and procedures; Manage, monitor, and update case/court deadlines on the firm's electronic calendar; Experience creating shells/templates for pleadings/discovery; Conduct background research on plaintiffs, judges, opposing counsel, and other case factors. Draft and revise pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements. Prepare, revise, and track subpoenas; coordinate with facilities to ensure timely production of records. Ability to take initiative and work independently; Flexibility and willingness to adapt and accomplish projects in an efficient and timely manner; Research laws and cases as needed; Ability to perform file operations and maintenance, including file storage, maintenance, interfiling, consolidations, and audits; Experience with conflict checks and matter opening procedures. Skills and Abilities:
Computer literacy and proficiency; Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal software systems; Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; and Excellent organizational skills.
